Commercial Steam

Most steam rooms and steam showers are site-built and constructed using tile to create a waterproof, sealed interior. Based on the room size, materials used, and intended use, Amerec will help you select or specify the right generator or boiler for your project.

For residential steam, you may use our Steam Sizing Tool for quick reference. For commercial steam, we recommend speaking with one of our knowledgeable dealers or with our factory representatives, as there are many considerations for properly sizing and installing a steam boiler.

Considerations for steam boilers include:

  1. Cubic Volume of Room - What is the length, width, and height?
  2. What materials are being used in the room? Will the front wall be glass or tiled?
  3. How many rooms are to be supplied by the boiler: 1 or 2?
  4. What is the expected use of the room? Will it be constant use throughout the day, or will there be slow periods between busy times? If there will be slow times, you may wish to consider adding a 60-minute timer so the bathers can heat the steam room only when needed (boiler keeps steam ready to release during operating hours).
  5. What type of door do you have planned for the steam room? Is the closer on the outside? Does it have proper weatherstripping for a steam application?
